Taiwan's industrial production index hit a new high in June, climbing by 24.33 percent as compared to June 2009, after rising a revised 30.99 percent year on year in May, and was up 2.39 percent month on month, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). In June, Taiwan's monthly industrial output increased for the fourth straight month.
In June this year, the sub-index for the machinery segment rose 68.5 percent, while industrial output in basic metal manufacturing increased 17.76 percent and output of metal product manufacturing surged by 25.13 percent, all compared with June 2009.
Meanwhile, Taiwan's jobless rate dropped to 5.2 percent in June, to its lowest level in 18 months.
