In 2011, South Korea's car exports maintained steady growth even amid global uncertainties, according to a report released by the South Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy. In the given year, the country's car exports surged by 13.7 percent year on year, totaling 3,151,930 units.

Meanwhile, in 2011 South Korea's car output increased by nine percent year on year to 4,656,762 units.

According to the report, in 2011 domestic car demand rose 1.5 percent to 1,579,589 vehicles, but a worsening economic outlook and rising fuel prices weakened consumer sentiment and this caused demand to grow more slowly. Meanwhile, sales of imported cars in South Korea in 2011 decreased by five percent year on year to 105,037 vehicles.
