In January this year, South Korea's total car output fell by 14 percent year on year, totaling 333,353 units, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). The report says that the decrease was due to falling domestic sales and reduced operating days.

South Korean domestic car demand in January this year fell by 19.9 percent year on year, totaling 96,929 units, owing to contracted consumer sentiment influenced by the financial crisis in Europe, coupled with the shortage of business days due to the New Year holiday in the lunar calendar.

South Korean car exports in January decreased by one percent year on year to 248,958 units, with passenger car exports totaling 234,292 units and light commercial vehicle exports amounting to 12,017.
