In September this year, South Korea's total car output fell by 8.2 percent year on year due to the reduced number of operating days, totaling 339,077 units, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). Meanwhile, in the first nine months of 2010, South Korea's car
production rose 26.9 percent year on year to 3,098,310 units.
Despite the recovery of consumer confidence and the impact of the release of new car models, domestic sales in September this year moved down 12.9 percent year on year totaling 120,466 units. South Korean domestic orders in the January-September period of 2010 rose 9.6 percent year on year amounting to 1,062,137 vehicles.
South Korean car exports in September decreased by 3.4 percent year on year to 217,755 units, due to the loss of business days, despite growing demand in the US and in emerging markets and the improved price-competitiveness of Korean cars resulting from the strong yen. In the first nine months of this year, exports surged 34.4 percent year on year, reaching 1,998,405 units.
