Austria-based giant engineering and plantmaking company Siemens Metals Technologies has announced the receipt of an order from Korea-based steel producer Hyundai Steel Company for the supply of new automation equipment for its compact hot strip mill in Dangjin.

The order in question is in line with Hyundai Steel's modernization steps directed towards the enhancing of product quality and the expansion of the product range. In addition, Siemens will also supply model predicative controllers for Hyundai Steel's finishing mill and the cooling section.

The new automation equipment constitutes a uniform, integrated system with a high degree of standardization and will allow Hyundai Steel to precisely roll and cool modern steel grades.

Within the scope of the deal, Siemens will be responsible for project management and engineering of the systems and components, as well as for installation supervision and full commissioning.

The first coil at Hyundai Steel's compact hot strip mill is scheduled to be rolled in September 2010.
