Russian, Kazakh production of iron ore

According to statistical data, in the first four months of the current year, Russian ore processing enterprises produced 1.34 million tons of sintering ore, up 35 percent, 31.7 millions tons of concentrate, up 3 percent, 12.5 million tons of pellets, up 2 percent, 1.7 million tons of agglomerate, down 14 percent, and 355,000 tons of briquettes, remained almost unchanged compared to January-April of 2005. Month on month production index in April 2006 shows 1 percent decrease in Russian production of sintering ore, no visible changes in production of concentrate, 17 percent rise in production of agglomerate and 15 percent decrease in production of briquettes. In the first four months of 2006, Kazakhstan's ore processing enterprises produced 377,000 tons of sintering ore, down 26 percent, 5.57 million tons of concentrate, down 7 percent and 2.88 million tons of pellets, down 4 percent compared to January-April of 2005. Month on month production index in April 2006 shows 2 percent decrease in Kazakhstan's production of sintering ore, 9 percent decrease in production of concentrate and 14 percent decrease in production of pellets.
