The Ukrainian organization of pipe producers Ukrtrubprom has stated that the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) has decided to prolong the safeguard investigation on imports of stainless steel pipes for a three-month period.

A special investigation into imports of stainless steel pipes was initiated in December 2007 by the MEDT at the request of Russian pipe producers Volzhsky Pipe Plant, Sinarskiy Pipe Plant, Pervouralsky Novotrubniy Plant and Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant, which together account for 88 percent of all stainless steel pipes produced in Russia.
