EU import quotas of HRC for some countries exhausted

The EU import quotas for some steel products have been exhausted, while over 90 percent of quotas for some other steel products have been used up. As predicted, the steel import quotas have only just begun to be exhausted as the end of the quota period approaches. As of June 19, South Korea has used 100 percent of its 207,111 mt of hot rolled coil quota, for the period between April 1 and June 30, while the hot rolled coil quota for the period allocated to other countries has nearly been exhausted, according to the European Commission’s data. 98 percent of the quota for hot rolled coil for other countries has been exhausted as of June 20.

Aside from HRC, 38,043 mt of metallic coated sheets (4A) quota allocated for South Korea has also been exhausted, while 93.14 percent of the 218,693 mt of metallic coated sheets (4B) quota has been used up.

Regarding China, 136,656 mt of metallic coated sheets (4B), 133,535 mt of non-alloy and other alloy merchant bars and light sections and 29,453 mt of electrical sheets (3B) quotas have been exhausted. The 53,015 mt of metallic coated sheets (4A) quota allocated for India has also been used up entirely, while the tonnage of stainless bars and light sections imported from India has exceeded the quota volume of 30,210 mt allocated for the country.

The EU import quotas of 19,828 mt of stainless cold rolled sheets and strips and 95,276 mt of hollow sections quotas for Turkey have been exhausted as of April 13 and June 12, respectively. Turkey has used 99.39 percent of its 47,060 mt gas pipe quota and 94.78 percent of its 37,018 mt quota for other welded pipes.
