PSI AG, a Germany-based supplier of software solutions and complete systems used in process management, has announced that it has been contracted by VIZ-Stal, the Yekaterinburg-based subsidiary of the Russian steelmaker NLMK, with the delivery of the PSImetals 5 production management solution. VIZ-Stal will use the components PSImetals Planning, PSImetals Production and PSImetals Quality within the whole steel plant.
Accordingly, with the use of PSImetals 5, VIZ-Stal aims to increase transparency of the production process based on continuous feedback and the collection of production data. This allows an early response to events in production, thereby improving the quality and avoiding rejects. The result should reduce the consumption of raw materials per metric tons of finished product. VIZ-Stal also aims to increase the efficiency of the production process and the utilization of production capacities, as well as achieving reduction of work in progress by improved planning functionality such as order sequencing.
