According to a report released by Poland's Automotive Market Research Institute (SAMAR), in October this year Poland's production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) saw a decrease of 22.95 year on year, totaling 66,100 units, while a month-on-month decline of 17.13 percent was recorded.
Cumulative output in the January-October period this year was 1.23 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year at 752,365 units.
Production of passenger cars in October this year amounted to 58,251 units, 18.15 percent more than in the previous month and 27.31 percent less than in the same month last year. Only 1.91 percent or 13,032 units of this year's production went to the local market. Given the volume of production from the beginning of the year, only one company recorded an increase compared with last year: Opel by 77.07 percent. Fiat, Volkswagen and FSO reported a decrease, respectively, 8.38 percent, 18.17 percent and 30.13 percent. Fiat Auto Poland produced more than 449,000 units in January-October this year, giving the manufacturer more than a 66 percent share of the Polish market.
Production of commercial vehicles reached 7,849 units in October 2010. The result is 8.63 percent less than a month earlier and 38.87 percent higher than that recorded a year earlier. Since the beginning of the year, the local factories of Fiat and Volkswagen produced 71,519 vehicles. Volkswagen Poznan is the undisputed leader in commercial vehicles. The producer's market share is currently 86.80 percent. 96.37 percent of commercial vehicles produced in October 2010 in Poland, were exported (68,920 units) during the month.
