According to a report released by Poland's Automotive Market Research Institute (SAMAR), in April this year Poland's production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) saw an increase of 3.51 percent year on year, totaling 81,422 units, while a month-on-month decline of 9.28 percent was recorded. This was the first decrease on month-on-month basis following a rising trend for three consecutive months.

In April, passenger cars constituted 91.37 percent of Poland's total monthly motor vehicle output. Production of passenger cars in April amounted to 74,391 units, decreasing by 8.4 percent month on month and up 0.75 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, Polish production of light commercial vehicles amounted to 7,031 units in April, down 17.68 percent over March and up 45.72 percent year on year.

In the first four months of 2010, the country's passenger car production amounted to 297,462 units, while its light commercial vehicle output totaled 27,310 units, increasing by 7.71 percent and 36.2 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009. In 2010, the market share of cars produced for local market has been shrinking. Four months into the year only 6,231 passenger cars have been produced for Polish customers, which is just 2.1 percent of total output in 2010, while more than 25,700 units or 94.3 percent of LCV output in Poland has left the country.
