Outokumpu delivers quarto plates for US solar energy power plant

Finland-based stainless steel producer Outokumpu has announced that it has delivered 650 mt of stainless steel quarto plates for the construction of a storage tank used at the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy power plant located in Tonapah, Nevada, US, the first commercial scale solar power facility in the US.

The storage tank is part of the heat storage system which allows energy to be stored for 10-15 hours. The quarto plates made out of 347H grade heat resistant stainless steel are produced in Outokumpu's quarto plate unit in Degerfors, Sweden.
