Finland-based
stainless steelmaker
Outokumpu has announced that it will deliver approximately 340 mt of
stainless steel quarto plates to Cimolai Spa of
Italy, which is one of the main steel manufacturers for the new World Trade Center transit terminal, the Oculus project, in New York at Ground Zero.
The use of quarto plates produced from
Outokumpu's proprietary high strength LDX 2101 duplex
stainless steel provides thinner, stronger and more cost efficient design in the construction. The plates will be produced at
Outokumpu's quarto
plate unit in Degerfors, Sweden.
Duplex quarto plates are increasingly used in demanding construction projects, since corrosion resistant high strength duplex grades offer considerable material weight savings.
