OMK starts trials at mill 10-65 at Almetyevsk Pipe Plant

The Russian pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced the commencement of trial production at mill 10-65 at its Tatarstan-based subsidiary Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (ATZ).

The new mill is expected to reach its full designed production capacity of 25,000 mt of pipes per year by November 2008.

The mill has developed the production of 20 x 20 mm pipes with 1.5 mm wall thickness, and is also scheduled to produce profile pipes with standard sizes of 25 x 25 mm, 30 x 30 mm, 30 x 20 mm, 15 x 15 mm, 40 x 20 mm, 40 x 25 mm and 50 x 25 mm with wall thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 3 mm.

Moreover, besides profile pipes, the mill is also to produce round pipes.
