New orders in German construction industry down 2.2% in Mar from Feb

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in March this year the total price-adjusted value of new orders in the overall German construction industry decreased by 2.2 percent month on month and increased by 2.2 percent compared to the same month last year, with a 1.7 percent decrease in the building construction sector and a 2.8 percent decline in the civil and underground engineering sector, both year on year.

In March this year, the total turnover in the overall German construction industry amounted to €4.8 billion, indicating an increase of 1.2 percent compared to March 2014.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, the total price-adjusted value of new orders in the overall German construction industry rose by 1.6 percent year on year. During the period in question, the total turnover in the overall German construction industry amounted to €11.1 billion, indicating a decrease of 2.8 percent compared to the same period of 2014.
