New motor vehicle registrations in Brazil decline in February

Brazil's motor vehicle output in February this year increased by 2.9 percent from the previous month to 217,848 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Brazil's motor vehicle output was down by 26 percent in February from the same month last year.

According to the report, total new motor vehicle registrations in Brazil amounted to 249,517 units in February this year, decreasing seven percent from January this year and down nine percent year on year. 24.5 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles.

Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in February this year totaled 36,461 units, increasing 10.2 percent compared to the previous month and down 21.1 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports came to $1.26 billion, increasing by 9.9 percent month on month and up 8.1 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
