Brazil's motor vehicle output down 11.2 percent in 2016

Brazil's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) in December last year decreased by 7.1 percent from the previous month and rose by 40.6 percent year on year to 200,887 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in 2016, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) declined by 11.2 percent year on year to 2,157,379 units.
 
New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 204,329 units in December last year, up 14.7 percent compared to November and decreasing by 10.3 percent year on year. In 2016, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 20.2 percent year on year to 2,050,317 units. 
 
Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in December last year (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 62,941 units, increasing by 11 percent compared to the previous month and up 36.1 percent year on year. In 2016, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 520,286 units, up 24.7 percent year on year.
