Motor vehicle sales in Australia up 9.7% in 2012

According to the latest estimations released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in December 2012 the seasonally adjusted estimate for new motor vehicle sales in Australia amounted to 98,264 units, increasing by 2.2 percent month on month and up 17.8 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in December sales of passenger vehicles and sports utility vehicles increased by 1.2 percent and 5.8 percent respectively, both compared to November 2012.

In the whole year of 2012, the seasonally adjusted estimate for new motor vehicle sales in Australia totaled 1.1 million units, increasing 9.7 percent compared to 2011.
