Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in 2016 it shipped 1.14 million mt of galvanized steel to its consumers, increasing by 4.1 percent year on year, thereby achieving the highest shipment volume of galvanized steel in the company’s history. The previous record of 1.12 million mt was achieved in 2014.

MMK stated that during the past 15 years it has sustainably grown its galvanized steel output. In 2002 and 2008, it commissioned two high-performance continuous hot dip galvanizing lines at its metal-coating shop. In 2012, it commissioned the second stage of a cold-rolling unit at sheet-rolling shop No. 11, comprising a continuous hot dip galvanizing line. Currently, another continuous hot dip galvanizing line with an annual capacity of 360,000 mt is under construction at sheet-rolling shop No. 11, with launch scheduled for July this year.

Development of coated metal production is in line with MMK’s goal to increase output of high value-added advanced processed products.
