Speaking at the 13th Platts Steel Markets Europe conference held recently in Barcelona, Igor Sapozhnikov, marketing specialist at Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), stated that MMK will be able to meet the growing demand for galvanized flat steel products in Russia with the launch of its new continuous hot dip galvanizing unit in July this year. The new continuous hot dip galvanizing unit is being installed as part of MMK’s strategy to increase high value-added product sales, according to Mr. Sapozhnikov.

The MMK marketing specialist also stated that steel consumption in Russia in the current year is expected to recover after a three-year period of decrease, while adding that the main industries that are supporting the growth of steel consumption in the country are the construction and automotive industries.
