China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently stated that the capacity utilization of China's steel industry will reach 80 percent and above by 2017. The MIIT also stated that by 2025 the combined crude steel output of China's top 10 steelmakers will account for 60 percent or higher of China's overall crude steel output, with three to five super-large steelmaking groups being formed which will be very competitive in the global market. Meanwhile, the MIIT also said that steelmakers that do not meet the necessary requirements need to actively upgrade their technology and equipment or else their capacities will be eliminated.
