UK-based London Mining has announced that it has started production from its Marampa operations in Sierra Leone, with the first shipment scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
Production ramp-up will take place during the first half of 2012 and the output will increase to 160,000 mt per month.
According to the company statement, the logistics solutions are about to be commissioned. Bollore Logistics Africa has commissioned the truck haulage fleet and a 40 km haul road is ready. The construction of Thofeyim port will allow barge loading from mid-December and is expected to be fully completed by the end of this month to allow a loading rate of 20,000 mt per day.
