According to the data released by the Republic of
Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first eight months of this year the country registered a 6.5 percent increase year on year in its crude steel
production but a five percent year-on-year decrease in its
production of flat rolled steel, to about 2.77 million mt and 1.86 million mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate
production for the given period amounted to 142,413 mt - up 7.86 percent, and its
galvanized steel output amounted to 384,100 mt - up 4.7 percent, both compared to January-August 2009.
In January-August this year,
Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by 28.65 percent year on year to 1.155 million mt, its
iron ore production increased by 138 percent to 33.4 million mt, while its
iron ore pellet
production went up by 61.5 percent to about 5.23 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
