According to the data released by the Republic of
Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in January-April this year the country registered a four percent increase year on year in its crude steel
production but a 9.7 percent year-on-year decrease in its
production of flat rolled steel, to 1.267 million mt and 881,949 mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate
production amounted to 68,141 mt - up 20 percent, and its
galvanized steel output amounted to 184,622 mt - up 12.4 percent, both compared to January-April 2009.
In the first four months of this year,
Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by 49.2 percent year on year to 567,292 mt, its
iron ore production increased by 155.5 percent to about 15.8 million mt, while its
iron ore pellets
production went up by 143 percent to about 2.86 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
