Kazakhstan issues Jan-Feb production results

According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in January-February this year the country registered a slight increase of 0.5 percent year on year in its crude steel production but a 12.8 percent year-on-year decrease in its production of flat rolled steel, to 563,468 mt and 405,122 mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate production amounted to 28,755 mt - up 39.2 percent, and its galvanized steel output amounted to 83,141 mt - up 11 percent, both compared to January-February 2009.
 
In the first two months of this year, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by about 68.8 percent year on year to 280,274 mt, its iron ore production increased by 170.4 percent to about 7.6 million mt, while its iron ore pellets production went up by 212.6 percent to 1.41 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
