The Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF) has stated that the Chinese government’s decision to impose antidumping measures on grain-oriented flat rolled electrical steel (GOES) imports from Japan is unjust and it will carefully study this decision and, after holding discussions with the Japanese government, determine a proper course of action.

On July 23, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced that it imposed definitive antidumping (AD) duty on grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) flat rolled imports from Japan, South Korea and the European Union (EU). The final antidumping duties for the Japanese companies JFE Steel and NSSMC stand at 39 percent and 45.7 percent respectively, while the country-wide duty rate is 45.7 percent.
