Japan's domestic steel product orders down 9.3 percent in November

In November 2014, steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic sectors in Japan amounted to 4.6 million metric tons, down 9.3 percent compared to November 2013 and falling 6.9 percent compared to October, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF). Meanwhile, in the January-November period of 2014, domestic steel product orders in Japan increased by 0.75 percent year on year to 52.8 million metric tons.
 
In November last year, steel product orders in Japan booked by the domestic construction sector decreased by 16.07 percent to 967,512 mt, while steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector amounted to 1.02 million metric tons, down 10.8 percent, both including special steel and on year-on-year basis. Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 323,121 metric tons of steel products in November 2014, up 0.6 percent compared to November 2013.
