Japanese auto output down 8.2 percent in H1

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in June this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 811,864 units, decreasing by 45,551 units or 5.3 percent compared to the same month of 2014, decreasing for the 12th consecutive month on year-on-year basis. In the first six months of this year, automobile production in Japan totaled 4,650,840 units, decreasing by 415,436 units or 8.2 percent year on year.
 
In June, domestic automobile sales in Japan stood at 442,631 vehicles, down 2.2 percent as compared with the same month of 2014. In the first half of the current year, Japanese domestic automobile sales totaled 2,676,634 units, down by 11 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports in June this year amounted to 403,730 units, increasing by 12,815 units or 3.3 percent year on year. In the first six months of this year, automobile exports totaled 2,177,637 units, up by 9,766 units or 0.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
