Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), have issued their preliminary production results for the first 11 months of the current year.
Accordingly, in January-November 2010, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw its crude steel production decline by 21.8 percent to 2.646 million mt, its finished steel product output dropped by 21 percent to 2.444 million mt, its pig iron production fell by 22.6 percent to 2.338 million mt, while its agglomerate production declined by 6.5 percent to 3.902 million mt, all compared to January-November 2009.
In November this year, Alchevsk produced 214,000 mt of crude steel, 191,000 mt of finished steel products, 181,000 mt of pig iron, and 305,000 mt of agglomerate.
Meanwhile, during the first 11 months of the current year, DMKD registered a 19.7 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 2.514 million mt, a 21.7 percent drop in its finished steel product output to 2.352 million mt, an 18 percent fall in its pig iron production to 2.381 million mt, and a 10.6 percent decrease in its agglomerate output to 3.912 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
In November, DMKD produced 250,000 mt of crude steel, 229,000 mt of finished steel products, 228,000 mt of pig iron, and 366,000 mt of agglomerate.
