Iran to increase steel production

Iran's private sector is currently building 48 steel plants with a combined production capacity of 30 million tons. Completion of these projects will bring Iran's steel production to 47.4 million tons by the end of the country's Fourth Development Plan. The projects will add 11.1 million tons of steel ingot, 4.3 million tons of various steel products and 14.6 million tons of raw material production. The projects will give the private sector a 52 percent share in steel ingot and 30 percent share in steel products.
