Iran’s iron ore concentrate output to rise, despite drop in Mar-May

In the first two months (March 21-May 21, 2020) of the current Iranian year, Iran’s output of iron ore concentrate decreased by two percent year on year to 7.957 million mt. In May alone, its production totaled 4.157 million mt, down two percent year on year, SteelOrbis has learned.

Nevertheless, for the remainder of the year Iran’s iron ore concentrate output is likely to rise gradually. Accordingly, on June 11 the biggest concentrate unit in Iran with a capacity of 5 million mt, namely, Sangan Iron Ore Concentrate Plant, was commissioned. In the meantime, in the last Iranian year Iran’s iron ore concentrate production amounted to 47.306 million mt, rising by four percent year on year.
