Indian steel wire producers demand duty hike

India's Steel Wire Manufacturers Association (SWMAI) reportedly demanded that the government increase the import duty on steel wires and wire ropes to 15 percent, with the claim that steel wire should be treated as a manufactured item. On the other hand, according to SWMAI, specific export incentives are needed to increase export of steel wires and wire ropes.
