Russia sees 10 percent drop in October stainless steel imports from September levels

According to the data issued by the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (Spetsstal), in October this year Russia's stainless steel product imports decreased by 10 percent month on month to 18,056 mt.

Of total Russian stainless steel product imports in October this year, 56.7 percent was accounted for by flats, 18.3 percent was accounted for by longs, nine percent consisted of electric-welded pipes, 8.7 percent was made up of seamless pipes, three percent was accounted for by wire, while billets accounted for 2.2 percent.

In October, the leading region in stainless steel supplies to Russia was Asia which accounted for 54.3 percent of the country's total stainless steel imports. Meanwhile, the top five countries supplying stainless steel to Russia in October were China, Ukraine, South Korea, Taiwan and India.
