Global crude steel output data for April
Data released by the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) show that global crude steel production amounted to 92.1 million metric tons in April 2005, up 8.0% year on year. For the first four months of the year, global crude steel production rose 7.0% year on year to 359.3 million metric tons. China produced 28.1 million metric tons of crude steel in April, up 25.4% on the same month in 2004. Total production for the Asian region was 46.1 million metric tons, a rise of 16.5% on April 2004. Production in the 25 member states of European Union totaled 16 million metric tons in April. Greece saw a 45.4%, Italy saw an 11.6% increase in crude steel production.
