German passenger car output up four percent in August

According to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Germany's passenger car output in August this year rose by four percent year on year to 338,500 units.
During the month in question, new passenger car registrations in Germany declined by 27 percent year on year to 201,000 units, while passenger car exports rose by 12 percent year on year reaching 252,550 units.
In the January-August period of 2010, Germany's total passenger car output reached 3,581,900 units, up 17 percent, passenger car exports amounted to 2,732,400 units, up 36 percent, while new registrations decreased by 29 percent to 1,907,200 units, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
