Germany's motor vehicle output up 12.3 percent in May

In May of the current year, new motor vehicle registrations (including automobiles and commercial vehicles) in the German market totaled 302,780 units, up 0.71 month on month and increasing by 6.09 percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first five months this year Germany's new motor vehicle registrations increased by 3.82 percent year on year, totaling 1,385,130 units.
 
According to the VDA, in May this year 507,630 motor vehicles rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a year-on-year increase of 12.33 percent and a month-on-month decline of 2.79 percent. German automobile output in the first five months of the current year amounted to 2,581,260 units, showing an 8.65 percent increase from the same period of 2013.
 
In May this year, a total of 393,170 motor vehicles were exported from Germany, down 2.24 percent month on month and up 17.3 percent compared to May 2013. In the first five months, German motor vehicle exports amounted to 1,998,510 units, increasing by 10.15 percent year on year.
