In September this year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry fell by three percent compared to the previous month, following a revised month-on-month increase of 0.2 percent in August, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
In September, the greatest month-on-month turnover decrease in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the manufacture of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts with a fall of 7.4 percent. In the motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts segment, in the given month there was a three percent decrease in domestic sales and a 9.8 percent fall in foreign sales.
In September, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing increased 0.6 percent as compared to August, with domestic sales increasing by 3.2 percent, while foreign sales were down by 3.6 percent, month on month. Meanwhile, a 2.9 percent month-on-month decrease was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales decreasing 2.4 percent and foreign sales down by four percent, both compared to the previous month.
