German crude steel output falls slightly in August from July

In August this year Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.6 million metric tons, decreasing slightly from the 3.7 million mt recorded in the previous month, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).

WV Stahl said that crude steel production in Germany has increased by almost three percent so far this year and that Germany has developed its production in line with expectations. In the January-August period of this year, Germany's crude steel production reached 30.5 million metric tons, rising by 2.8 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
On the other hand, in July this year Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.06 million metric tons, up by 7.7 percent year on year but down 11.6 percent compared to June this year, including 2.18 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 10.4 percent compared to July 2010 and down 4.4 percent compared to the previous month, and 877,000 metric tons of long steel products - up 1.5 percent year on year and down 25 percent compared to June this year.
