France’s GDP stable in Q1

In the first quarter of 2012, France's gross domestic product (GDP) remained stable quarter on quarter after a 0.1 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in the fourth quarter of 2011, according to the detailed statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).

During the first quarter, in France household consumption expenditure increased by 0.2 percent quarter on quarter, after a 0.1 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in Q4. Meanwhile, France's import value returned to uptrend with a 0.7 percent quarter-on-quarter increase after a 1.4 percent decrease in the previous quarter, while the export value fell by 0.3 percent quarter on quarter in Q1, after a 1.1 percent quarter-on-quarter increase recorded in the previous quarter.
