Early Monday morning, an explosion in one of the four ovens in a blast furnace at RG Steel's Warren, Ohio mill caused a serious fire that did extensive damage to the plant. Eight fire departments responded to the blaze.

News reports indicated that debris spewed out of the number four stove during the explosion, and once the hot debris fell on the machine shop roof, it caught fire. No customer disruptions were anticipated as a result of the incident.
