Evraz sees 3.6 percent decrease in crude steel output for 2014

Global steelmaking and mining giant Evraz Group S.A. has announced that its crude steel output amounted to 3.884 million mt in the fourth quarter of 2014, up 0.6 percent quarter on quarter. 

In the fourth quarter last year, the crude steel production of the Russian division of Evraz Group increased by one percent quarter on quarter to 2.979 million mt. 

Evraz's Ukrainian operations saw their crude steel production decline by 19.6 percent quarter on quarter in the fourth quarter last year to 217,000 mt.

In the fourth quarter, the North American unit of Evraz recorded a 5.7 percent quarter-on-quarter increase to 528,000 mt in its crude steel production.
In 2014, the consolidated crude steel output of Evraz decreased by 3.6 percent year on year to 15.535 million mt.
 
Regarding the group's consolidated production of finished steel products, production amounted to 2.286 million mt in the fourth quarter of 2014, registering a 2.6 percent decrease compared to the previous quarter, while the finished steel product output for the full year decreased by 11.1 percent year on year to 9.635 million mt.

As regards raw coking coal, Evraz Group's production in the fourth quarter rose by 12.1 percent quarter on quarter to 5.972 million mt, while its raw coking coal production in 2014 increased by 11.2 percent year on year to 21.062 million mt.
