In December last year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union (EU) increased by 10.4 percent year on year to 211,941 units, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
Growth was sustained across all segments and all major markets. In December, the Italian market posted the highest increase (+97%), followed by Spain (13.3%), Germany (3.4%) and France (2.9%), while the UK posted a 9.7 percent decline, all compared to December 2015.
In 2016, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU totaled about 2,324,371 units, up 11.6 percent on year-on-year basis. The EU market rose for the fourth year in a row. Italy (+49.9 percent), Spain (+11.3 percent), France (+8.3 percent), Germany (+7.0 percent) and the UK (+1.2 percent) recorded increases, all year on year.
