The European Antifraud Office has found that an EU importer was buying Chinese heavy plates by means of untruthful import declarations to avoid antidumping duty, making its procurements under the wrong code. The total amount of financial damage caused across the EU amounts to €6.5 million.

The antidumping duties on the given product from China are in the range of 65.1-73.7 percent. Before the imposition of antidumping duties, China was the main source of imports for heavy plate accounting for 1.3 million mt in 2015, almost 50 percent of total EU imports.
