The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has decided to impose definitive antidumping (AD) duty and collect definitively the provisional duty imposed on certain heavy plate imports of non-alloy or other alloy steel from China.
The definitive antidumping duty rates applicable to the above-mentioned products range between 65.1 percent and 73.7 percent, the same as the provisional AD duty rates set on October 7, 2016.
The investigation was launched on February 13, 2016, upon the complaint from the European Steel Association (EUROFER), alleging that these imports from China are being dumped and are thereby causing material injury to the EU industry.
The products in question currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208 51 20, 7208 51 91, 7208 51 98, 7208 52 91, 7208 90 20, 7208 90 80, 7225 40 40, 7225 40 60 and 7225 99 00.
Meanwhile, following the EC announcement, China's Ministry of Commerce released a statement on February 28, calling on Europe to treat Chinese companies "fairly and impartially", adding that it is ready to strengthen communication with the EU to tackle issues in the industry.
