EU to continue collecting AD duty on Chinese steel ropes and cables

The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has decided to impose a definitive antidumping (AD) duty on imports of steel ropes and cables originating in China, following an expiry review initiated in February 2017.

The antidumping duty has also been extended to imports of steel ropes and cables consigned from Morocco and South Korea, whether declared as originating in these countries or not, as a result of a previous anti-circumvention investigation.

As a result of the expiry review, the EU concluded that, considering the significant spare capacity available in China and the established attractiveness of the EU market, the repeal of the measures would likely result in a continuation of dumping, and that dumped exports will enter the EU market in significant quantities.

The definitive antidumping duty rate for the mentioned imports stands at 60.4 percent.

The products in question currently falls within CN codes ex 7312 10 81, ex 7312 10 83, ex 7312 10 85, ex 7312 10 89 and ex 7312 10 98.
