The European Commission (EC) has announced the steel quotas allocated to Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine for 2007. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the European Commission signed separate agreements with Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine regarding trade of certain steel products. The agreements with the subject countries were signed on July 19, 2005, on November 3, 2005, and on July 29, 2005, respectively. Since these agreements are to expire on December 31, 2006, the EC has released new steel quotas for these countries, to be effective as of January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. The quotas are similar to those of 2006. The steel quotas for 2007 are as follows:
