Erdemir may halt production next month if no new orders

According to media sources, Turkish steelmaker Ereğli Demir ve Çelik Fabrikaları TAŞ's (Erdemir) general manager and member of the executive board Oğuz Özgen commented on outgoing the market conditions' change since August 2008 in terms of Erdemir, Turkey and worldwide in his speech during his presentation, related with his company's performance entitled "Market Analysis."

Underlining the lack of orders to the company's products due to the deteriorated market conditions, Mr Özgen stated that the company may halt production unless they receive new orders.

Mr Özgen said that the company took measures to struggle with the current economic crisis, while the operations were carried out to expand sales and marketing deals. Mr Özgen stressed that the company gave priority to reduce production costs, while it arranges to increase the usage of equity capital, and to minimize the imported raw material levels as well.
