At the end of July this year, 243,000 persons worked in metal production and processing in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, the figure was 1.7 percent more than at the end of July 2011.
Employment in the manufacture of metal products in Germany rose 3.8 percent to 500,000 persons in July this year compared to the same month of 2011. Meanwhile, the number of employees in the production of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts increased 3.4 percent year on year, to 748,000 persons.
