Colombian iron and steel exports down 5.8 percent in H1

In the first half of this year, Colombia exported 44,218 mt of ferronickel, down 36.5 percent, with a value of $139.27 million, decreasing by 13.9 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In June this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 8,423 mt, falling by 45.4 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $26.29 million, down 28.6 percent, both compared to June 2016.

In the first six months of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 85,163 mt, down 5.8 percent, with a value of $200.17 million, rising by 5.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In June, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 14,149 mt, decreasing by 20.1 percent, and were worth $39.1 million, down 5.2 percent, both compared to the same month of 2016.
