Chinese auto output up 14 percent in Jan-Feb

According to the latest data issued by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), in February this year Chinese auto sales totaled 1,354,600 units, decreasing 33.4 percent compared to the previous month and down by 13.6 percent compared to February 2012. China's automobile output in February this year amounted to 1,347,200 units, falling 31.4 percent month on month and down 16.25 percent compared to the same month last year.
 
In the first two months of the year, Chinese auto sales exceeded 3,389,100 units, up 14.7 percent, while the country's automobile output reached 3,311,700 units, up 14 percent, both compared to the same two months of 2012.
 
In particular, in the first two months of 2013, total sales and output of passenger cars in China amounted to 2,837,400 and 2,726,200 units, rising by 19.5 percent and by 17.7 percent compared to the same period of last year respectively. Meanwhile, commercial vehicle sales and output in China in the given period amounted to 551,700 and 242,100 units respectively, falling by five percent and 30.25 percent year on year.
